Combating Burnout With JKD

     Everyone has hobbies. Everyone has activities to keep us busy when we have free time outside of work. In the midst of most of those hobbies we find what we are passionate about. We potentially found that when we were young or a little later in life. We take part in our passions, because it is the core of who we are. Sometimes, however, we can forget about all of that.

     Burnout is real. Look at most famous singers or athletes. Eventually their bodies stop working as efficiently to play or sing. Getting old or growing past those stages is normal. What do we do when we get burnt out before our time is up? How do we go back? Retraining your body and mind can sometimes click the reset button on us. Getting out of our comfort zone and pushing ourselves to new heights helps us reset the bar for our life. In Jeet Kune Do, there is a collection of newfound disciplines that you might not be accustomed to accomplishing. It might be hard to get out of bed at 5:00am or run 5 miles before you go into work. Why should anyone do that? Why should someone go into a gym and learn about how to defend themselves or others in case there is a public altercation? The answer goes back to passions.

     People are meant to guard what they love. People are meant to guard, not just against violence, but apathy and burnout as well.
